I notice a lot of replies saying various things about being unhealthy is the easiest way of avoiding the draft. I don't think it will work this time. Some service members who have already been over and injured at being sent back into the fray without being 100%. We as the American public are not being told the full truth about what is going on. I listened the other day as a father was talking about his daughter's fiancee having been injured and being sent back over while still in a leg cast. How the hell is suppose to be able to run with a leg cast?? If you are serious about avoiding the draft, pick a country that doesn't have it and go over there. Canada is a good choice as you don't need a visa to go over, and they don't extradite people back to the states. Even better if you are of college age, go to a Canadian college. That way you have a good reason for being in the country for an extended period and you aren't wasting the time waiting for the "old, rich people" to decide that this war is over. It may sound strange coming from a former Marine, but I don't people our young people die for oil. If Americans truly believed in this war why is the recruiting rate down over the last 3 years? When World War I and World War II happened Americans lined up to fight for a just cause, some even going so far as to join foreign military just to get a chance to fight. Now the youngsters are trying to find ways to avoid going. What does that say about this war??? And the last time the draft was in effect 76% of the men sent to Vietnam were from lower and middle class families. If the rich want the damn oil so much, let them send their sons and daughters to die for it, we need ours at home to bring in a guaranteed paycheck to support the family..... OK now with that said.. I hope we don't lose you to the draft any of the other young men across the country. :D
