I believe, actually (teaching wise, not what I necessarily believe), that with Christ's resurrection, all of our sins are forgiven, but with baptism, we are reborn without the original sin we were born with initially, which tends to sound redundant, but is actually symbolic. Also, keep in mind that the concept of original sin was invented by Augustine of Hippo, and before that, it didn't exist. Of course, he was originally part of a heretical cult that believed that the body itself was sinful and only the soul mattered in the end. They died out largely because of an extremely high suicide rate. The concept of original sin and the removal through baptism was a way for him to reconcile his baser needs with his spiritual desires.
